Steve Hackett Release Single Til These Eyes/Enter The Night

The year has just begun and Steve Hackett has already rewarded his loyal fan base with a run of acclaimed UK shows; always eager to help the more vulnerable, the ex-Genesis guitarist has now announced the release of double A sided single Til These Eyes and Enter The Night (Radio Mix) on 21st May (20th May on iTunes) via Inside Out Music, with part of the sales revenue going to charity Childline Rocks.

A unique one-off show – Past and Present – at the Islington Assembly Hall, London on Sunday 20th May featuring Steve Hackett and his Electric Band, also in aid of ChildLine Rocks, is alreadysold out, as Hackett himself proudly declares.

“My AA single is coming out 0n 21 May! Influenced by the Peter Pan story, Enter the Night celebrates youth and vitality, while Til These Eyes expresses the passing of years and relationships… But the pivotal importance of love shines through and links both songs. The wide span of time and musical style is also celebrated in the Hackett band show Past and Present which features both songs. This show at the Islington Assembly Hall on 20 May is already sold out and I’m honoured to be part of the Childline cause.”

Til This Eyes is featured on the widely praised Beyond the Shrouded Horizon, Hackett’s 24th studio album – Enter the Night is only featured on the deluxe edition. The record is a progressive journey, deeply personal yet joyous, taking the listener with Hackett on his quest to make sense of life through music. Exquisite acoustic vignettes and towering rock and orchestral arrangements traverse continents of subject and style and yet the album remains cohesive to the end. ‘An extraordinarily diverse and far-reaching album which leaps between genres with vision and vitality,’ according to Classic Rock.

Renowned as one of the world’s most talented and innovative rock musicians, Hackett made an indelible mark on classic rock as Genesis’ lead guitarist in the Seventies; in 1977 he started a prolific solo career, drawing on influences from blues, jazz, classical and ethnic music while being himself recognized as a major influence by countless and diverse guitarists. Hackett pioneered of the “tapping” technique that influenced the likes of Eddie Van Halen and other virtuosos. In March 2010, Steve was inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York, a public recognition of his stature as both performer and composer.

Steve Hackett will perform on the Main Stage at the prestigious Isle of Wight Festival on June 24th; Bruce Springsteen will be headlining the show.

ChildLine Rocks is an independent committee originally set up to raise money for ChildLine -a service within the NSPCC – through live music. The first ChildLine Rocks event was held at London’s indigO2 in March 2008; the line-up included Roger Daltrey, Lulu, Marillion, Thunder, Ian Paice (Deep Purple) and The Zombies. The event, which was compered by legendary DJ, “Whispering” Bob Harris, raised over 100,000, which paid for 40 new volunteer ChildLine counsellors. The CLR committee is chaired by Malcolm Bluemel, the owner of Planet Rock Radio and includes Classic Rock and Yamaha amongst others.

ChildLine is the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children and young people. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Almost 1300 volunteers provide a counselling service, supervised by a team of professional supervisors and managers. Every day ChildLine counsellors answer around 2,500 calls from children and young people looking for comfort, advice and protection.
