“20 Years Out” Thunder’s Farewell Tour

Change Of Venue And New Dates Added

When Thunder announced 2 weeks ago that after 20 years they were calling it a day and bowing out with a final tour, they had no idea that they would spark such a ticket buying frenzy. The final show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Academy sold out in 46 hours. This unbelievable demand has prompted a hasty change of venue to accommodate the disappointed fans. They will now perform their last ever UK show on 11th July at the Hammersmith Apollo.

And that’s not all… the lack of a Scottish show prompted Glasgow’s 96.3 Rock Radio to launch a petition. To date, almost 1,000 fans have voted with their signatures persuading the band to add a Glasgow date on 1st July at the O2 Academy.

Each of the 5 musicians has been spending more time on activities outside the band. Having discussed it at very great length,Thunder have now announced their last ever UK tour, during which they will say thank you and bid an extremely fond farewell to their fans and rock it up for the very last time.

We’ve played loads of fantastic shows over the last 20 years, but we want all the shows between now and when we go to be the best we’ve ever done. We really hope you’ll want to be there to help us to do that. And Thanks for everything” – Thunder

Thunder formed in 1989, releasing their debut album Backstreet Symphony in 1990, which went Gold, as did their follow-up Laughing on Judgement Day, which peaked at number 2 in the UK album charts. Their legendary appearance in 1990 at Monsters of Rock at Donington cemented their place in the hearts of British rock fans. Twenty years later, after twenty top-50 singles, 9 studio albums and a 2-year hiatus, this really is the end of the trail for Thunder.
