SAXON HEADLINE UK TOUR

After crowd-rocking performances at the Golden Gods awards, Sonisphere and Bloodstock, not to mention Biff’s special guest performance with Metallica in Paris in April, Britain’s favourite metallers, SAXON, will headline a 7-date UK tour in November.

Biff and the boys continue to delight their long-standing fans, as well as acquire a loyal following from a whole new generation.

Of their massive resurgence, lead-singer Biff Byford says: “Things are going really well and these shows will be a great end to a fantastic year – and feel free to send us your set list ideas.”

SAXON will be joined by special guests ANVIL and SUIDAKRA. Full details for the November tour are:-

Saxon are: Biff Byford on vocals; Paul Quinn – guitar; Doug Scarratt – guitar; Nibbs Carter – bass and drummer, Nigel Glockler.

SAXON are true heavy metal heroes. Their story is a classic rock’n’roll saga: five friends from the backstreets of Yorkshire setting out to take on the world. The resulting chart glory, band infighting, full-on rock’n’roll excess, ensures their dramatic tale will become part of heavy metal history. A documentary: “Heavy Metal Thunder” is now in production for release in November and can be pre-ordered on www.saxon747.com. The film features not on only contributions from Saxon past & present, but from the likes of Metallica, Motörhead, Harvey Goldsmith and many more. It will also feature plenty of rare archive material and unseen concert footage.

SAXON CELEBRATE ST. GEORGE’S DAY

English heavy metal legends Saxon kick off the UK leg of their Battalions of Steel World Tour in style at the Forum in London on April 23rd, St. George’s Day.

Biff and the band agree with Boris Johnson’s statement that England’s patron saint’s day has been ignored for far too long and, being men of action (and purveyors of damn fine British Heavy Metal) they will rock hard with their fans on 23rd April.

As Biff says, “You can’t ignore it. It’s our day - stand up and be counted!”

On this tour, Saxon will be joined by DORO and Belfast NWOBHM band Sweet Savage. Full Tour Details are:-

SAXON CONQUER DOWNLOAD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Saxon took to the stage at Download Festival on Saturday evening to deafening chanting from their legions of fans.

In the words of NME “Saxon played a storming set to a huge crowd”. Only fans that flocked to the Gibson stage in plenty of time to see the heavy metal warriors managed to get inside the 5,000-capacity tent. But at least another couple of thousand latecomers, whose numbers stretched way up the hill into the concession stands, were not deterred and all were rocked by one of Download 2008’s magic moments!

Vocalist Biff Byford was heard to say “Is this the main stage or what? We played with Metallica in Germany last week and this is much better than that!”

Last night, frontman Byford was picking up the award for Best Event of the Year on behalf of Hard Rock Hell (Butlins, Minehead, November 2007) at Metal Hammer’s Golden God Awards at the indigO2.

Saxon will release an EP in October 2008, before embarking on a 15-date UK tour with Motörhead in November.

Of the band’s recent resurgence, Byford said “Download was magic!! A highlight of what’s been a fantastic year for us”
