BE A REAL-LIFE GUITAR HERO!!

ROCK’N’ROLL FANTASY CAMP
RETURNS TO THE UK IN MAY 2010

"Hey, one day I was playing drums on Sunshine of Your Love, with Jack Bruce on bass. The next day, I jammed with Nick Mason on a Floyd tune at Abbey Road Studios, and then I played I am the Walrus on stage at the Cavern Club – I was in total heaven."

Former camp participant, art director Barry Simon, sums up the unique experience that is Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp. Following an immensely successful Camp in November 2008, the Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp will return to Abbey Road Studios in London from 25th to 31st May 2010.

ROCK 'N' ROLL FANTASY CAMP does exactly what it says on the tin! Regardless of experience, campers are provided with a once in a lifetime opportunity to rehearse and record at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, with some of rock’s most iconic stars by their side. The week culminates in the opportunity to perform live on stage at the world's most famous rock club, THE CAVERN in Liverpool, where the Beatles first made their name.

Such is Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp’s draw, 7 months out and already the following have confirmed:

  • Nick Mason (Pink Floyd – special guest)

  • Jack Bruce (Cream – special guest)

  • Spike Edney (Queen and others - counsellor)

  • Mick Ralphs (Bad Company - counsellor)

  • Joey Molland (Badfinger - counsellor)

Meatloaf, Jon Anderson (Yes) and Ace Frehley (Kiss & solo artist) have been confirmed for this November’s camp in Los Angeles, so expect further announcements of superstar guests for the London camp in the coming weeks and months.

After his first appearance at Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp last year, Slash, who could probably deliver a degree course on how to live an excessive, decadent rock’n’roll lifestyle mused, "not everyone really wants to live our lives. They just want a chance to touch it." And that is exactly what Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp delivers.

The camp is so much more than a ‘meet & greet’ opportunity… with 10+ hours of daily jamming with the rock star counselors, meals with celebrity musicians, a CD of the campers’ music recorded at Abbey Road Studios, a DVD of their live performances at The Cavern, Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp really does provide a full-on rock experience. The best recommendation being that participants and counselors alike return to camp after camp.

While no experience is necessary, to ensure that all campers get the most out of their week, Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp is introducing a “Masters’ Program” for more accomplished participants. By submitting tapes/videos ahead of the camp, they can be assured they will be grouped with other musicians of their caliber.

The camp maybe the ultimate Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy, but it can also change lives… Diane Birch, who attended a Hollywood camp in 2005 has just released her debut album, which is getting a lot attention and has led to various TV appearances!

There are limited spaces available at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles in November 2009 for media who want to run a feature in advance of the London camp.

ROCK’N’ROLL FANTASY CAMP

ABBEY ROAD, LONDON – 4th-9th NOVEMBER 2008

www.rockcamp.com

Who hasn’t dreamt of jamming with their rock heroes, of hanging out back-stage or of performing live with a rock icon? For most people it remains purely a dream… until now!

Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp is coming to London for the 2nd year in a row and offers aspiring musicians and music-lovers the opportunity to do all of the above with some major rock icons. Now in it’s 11th year, Rock’n’Roll Fantasy Camp is the brainchild of American promoter David Fishof and has become a bit of an icon itself, having formed the basis for the 2002 episode of The Simpsons entitled “How I Spent My Strummer Vacation” which featured the voice-talents of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Elvis Costello, Lenny Kravitz & Tom Petty.

And that is exactly the calibre of musicians participants in the forthcoming London camp should expect. Already confirmed are:-

Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) Chris Slade (AC/DC, The Firm)
Bill Wyman (ex Rolling Stones) Jeffrey Foskett (Beach Boys)
Mark Hudson (songwriter, producer Aerosmith) Kip Winger (Winger)
Mick Ralphs (Mott The Hoople, Bad Company)

More rock star guests will soon be announced!

The camp will be held over 6 days (4th- 9th November) in the world-famous Abbey Road Studios, culminating with a live performance in the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool. During this time, campers will jam and record for 10+ hours per day, attend master classes with the stars, eat with the celebrity musicians and finally perform with these living legends on stage. This is not merely a “meet & greet” – it is a real opportunity to work in depth with some of the finest performers in the business.

In the current issue of GQ Magazine Nick Mason (Pink Floyd drummer) has written a feature describing his experience as a tutor and says of the camp “You head straight away into a totally accurate rock’n’roll experience. There are endless opportunities to pick up playing techniques and tricks from the professionals… I’d do it again like a shot… The musical ability of the participants is as varied as their backgrounds, and this, for me, was one of the best aspects. Just for once, this camp is not a competition… As a social event, the camp scores top marks.”

Over the last 10 years, many participants return again and again – and so do the celebrities! We have the following ‘living legends’ available for interviews:- Nick Mason, Bill Wyman, Glenn Hughes, Mark Hudson, Chris Slade, Kip Winger, and Jeffery Foskett (Brian Wilson's musical director).

Previous camp counsellor and rock legend, Roger Daltrey of The Who said: “I feel quite passionate about anything that encourages people in music, It’s great seeing people with such enthusiasm having fun even though they’re all of different abilities! They all rise to the occasion, it’s fantastic!”

Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp is a one-of-a-kind event that brings music lovers of all levels together with professional rock 'n roll stars - and that brings those music lovers the unforgettable opportunity to move from spectator to the stage, sharing the limelight with living legends.
