Del Castillo, Austin’s (Texas) favourite Latin pop/rock five piece band, have been wowing audiences in America since they were formed by brothers, Mark & Rick del Castillo in 2001.

Now, they are bringing their eclectic blend of Flamenco, Rock, Latin, Blues, and World music to Glasgow’s “Celtic Connections” festival 17th January 2010 and will perform an EXCLUSIVE SHOWCASE on Thursday, 21st January at the Gibson Guitar Studio in London.

You may not have heard of Del Castillo, but you’ve probably heard their music. Quentin Tarantino loved their amazing electric rendition of the Mexican classic song, “Malaguena Salerosa” so much that he re-shot the ending sequence of Kill Bill Vol. II to fit the song into his movie. Other Del Castillo tracks have featured in Robert Rodriguez’s: Sin City, Spy Kids 3D, Once Upon A Time in Mexico and Grindhouse.

The band, who have toured with the likes of Styx, Willie Nelson, Don Henley and Los Lobos, have also racked up an impressive array of awards over the years, including:-

SXSW/Austin Music “Album of the Year” Award for Vida (2002)

SXSW/Austin Music “Album of the Year” Award for Brotherhood (2006)

SXSW/Austin Music “Band of the Year (2003)”

ASCAP’S “Best Independent Group of the Year (2005)”

Austin Music Pundits “Best Live Act (2004)”

Last week, they received the HMMA (Hollywood Music & Media Awards) “Best Instrumental Song” award and have been included on the 2010 Grammy Ballot Paper for 4 Latin Grammys and 2 regular Grammys.

Del Castillo’s showcase truly is 2010’s ‘must-attend’ event. The band will perform a 45-minute set, which will be followed by interview opportunities.
